To commemorate the World Day Against Trafficking in Persons 2025, Survivors’ Network (SN) Cameroon hosted a powerful and interactive seminar under the global theme: “Human Trafficking as an Organized Crime – End the Exploitation.” Held on the 30th of July 2025, the event served as a critical platform to unite community leaders, activists, and citizens in the ongoing fight against modern slavery in Cameroon and beyond.
Combating an issue as complex as human trafficking requires a unified front. The seminar brought together participants from diverse and influential backgrounds, demonstrating a shared community responsibility. Attendees included:
Civil Society Organizations (CSOs): Including ARREF, Help the Children, and FAJEFIM.
Law Enforcement Officers dedicated to community protection and justice.
Religious Leaders (Men and Women of God) and active community members.
The event officially commenced at 10:00 AM with an opening prayer. This was followed by a round of introductions that set a collaborative tone for the day. The incredible diversity of the attendees deeply enriched the discussions, highlighting that ending human trafficking is a collective responsibility.
The welcoming remarks were delivered by Ms. Awah Francisca Mbuli, Founding Executive Director of Survivors’ Network (SN) Cameroon and a recognized Trafficking in Persons Hero.
During her impactful address, Ms. Mbuli emphasized the critical need to raise public awareness about human trafficking as a highly organized global crime. She reaffirmed Survivors’ Network’s unwavering commitment to three core pillars:
Prevention of human trafficking at the grassroots level.
Protection of vulnerable populations.
Promotion of survivor-led initiatives and empowerment programs.
Following the opening addresses, the seminar transitioned into a series of impactful, educational presentations designed to equip attendees with actionable knowledge.
A standout session was “Understanding Human Trafficking and Identifying the Signs.” This vital presentation provided participants with the practical tools needed to:
Recognize the various forms of trafficking (labor, sexual, and domestic exploitation).
Identify the early “red flags” and warning signs in potential trafficking situations within their communities.
Safely report suspicious activities to the appropriate authorities.
The fight against human trafficking does not end when the seminar closes—it requires daily, sustained action. At Survivors’ Network, we are dedicated to restoring hope, building safe futures, and empowering survivors.

An engaging Question and Answer session allowed participants to clarify concerns, share perspectives, and suggest community-driven solutions to counter human trafficking.
The event concluded with a prayer and light refreshments and informal networking among attendees, fostering connections for future collaboration.
The seminar served as a platform for education, dialogue, and advocacy, reminding all present that ending human trafficking requires a united front against the criminal networks behind it. The event closed on a hopeful note, with participants expressing renewed commitment to protect the vulnerable and advocate for justice.
