This was a project initiated by Survivors Network SN Cameroon in partnership with Vital Voices to run for three months. The purpose was to provide a shelter/safe home and basic needs for 15 homeless women and girls with vulnerabilities, with at most two children, for a period of three months.
The program kicked off in November 2021 and ran through to the end of January 2022. After orienting the various women and girls on the purpose of their stay at the safe home, they were encouraged to choose a trade from the trades offered by the Survivors Network vocational training center. Most of the women and girls chose knitting and slippers making since it was easier for them to master the trade within the three-month period of their stay in the shelter.
